Heat Wave Policy

During the summers, occasionally, we have high temperatures. These heat wave will not affect the games at any of our Leaside Soccer league locations.

Heat wave advisories suggest to stay out of the blazing sun or heat. We already do that as all of our house league games take place in the evenings. The advisory also suggests to avoid strenuous physical activity outdoors. We do not believe that our games are that strenuous, given the number of stoppages, the lack of intensity and the total amount of time spent.

The parent or player must continue to take personal responsibility in their decision to play or to allow their child to play. The club is responsibile for erecting the fields to play on. We are mindful of providing a safe environment in which to play, and we feel that our environment is safe.

We are concerned with these conditions and as such we just want to remind everyone that with these rises in the temperature to be aware of the fact that summer heat waves can cause serious health issues, particularly for babies, infants and the elderly who are more vulnerable to the risks of dehydration and sunburn. Wear loose- fitting, lightweight, light-colored clothing that will cover as much skin as possible; drink plenty of water regularly and often; take frequent breaks; be alert to any signs of heat related physical signs such as head aches or dizziness. Heat exhaustion can cause muscle cramps, low blood pressure, rapid pulse and nausea.

Our fundamental concern is the safety and well-being of our players, referees, coaches and attendees. Please ensure you take the necessary measures to have a safe and fun experience. As always, use common sense.
