STRUCTURE OF TIGERS

For each playing age ( eg 2002, 2001 etc) there is one person who is selected to be in charge of that age for the club. Normally that person will also coach a team at that level.

The criteria for selection of that person is: 1. must have been coached in a house league, preferrably our own, because only in that way can we be sure that the person has experienced what it is to coach. 2. must be a parent of a child on the team because only in that way can we minimize the liability risks and ensure that the values of the area are effected on the team. 3. must have the time and want to take on the responsibility because it is onerous.

There will be only one person in charge of each age and that person will set the terms of reference in the club for the competitive teams of that particular year.

Coaches at a competitive level make decisions on whether to accept players on their teams based on many factors; ability of the player is certainly one factor but the willingness of the player to accept instruction is important as well as the players self discipline. Parents are a special consideration which is taken into account. The decision of the coach is not subject to challenge. The willingness of the parent and the player to subject themselves to judgment as to their suitability to be on a competitive team, a decision which in itself is subjective, removes the ability of the parent to object to that decision.

Over the past years many times there have been strong disagreements between coaches especially where there are 2 teams at the same age group. This has often caused people to withdraw their children; in some cases it has caused the dismembering of the teams. While the children at that age and the club suffer, these disagreements cannot be resolved by creating other structures which vary the above structure.

The final arbitrator in all things in our club is the parents. Where a parent wants a certain thing then their wishes will be obeyed unless it affects the rights of other parents. In that case, the parents must themselves resolve their differences as the club will not arbitrate those differences. If they cannot resolve those differences, nothing will be changed.

No changes in the rep structure will be made without the approval of all the Tiger coaches.
