USEFUL LINKS

These are free internet resources for coaching soccer. Comments are from Toru Kotani, Leaside-East Toronto Soccer Club coach.
Inside Soccer.
A superb source of coaching information. Professional clubs around the world contribute to this site. You can watch video clips of pro youth coaches running training sessions. You can also see the level of youth players around the world. Quite informative.

UEFA.
This is a bit of a UEFA infomercial with more focus on "star skills" than on coaching. But you can send video clips of world-class skills to your team from this site to inspire the players. There are other interesting sections like "tactics" and "skill challenges". But don't expect to find a training plan for your team's next practice.

NSCA.
This is the official site of the National Soccer Coaching Association of America. Click "educating coaches". You will find some coaching resources provided by the organisation. The most interesting feature of this site is "distant learning". There are tactical quizzes you can try to pass. The NSCAA also offers an "on-line academy". You can study the whole course free of charge. If you want a certificate, you pay a fee the US$10, which allows you to write an on-line multiple-choice test. If you pass, you get the certificate.

Soccer Expert.
A very organised site. You can find almost 200 exercises with diagrams, divided by different age-groups. Very useful.

Drills.
This site's drills are divided by the shapes of training space you would use. "Circles", "half pitch", "grids". "large square", etc. Diagrams are very clear. But they are not organised by the age of players. So you have to judge whether these drills are age-appropriate for your players.

Better Soccer Coaching.
This site asks you to sign up to receive a free weekly newsletter. But you don't have to sign up. You can get enough practice ideas by clicking the "archive" of coaching tips. There is enough coaching information there.

Coaching.
A very useful site. Click "coaching", and you will get very good tips about how to plan your training session. You can view sample training plans. By clicking the "coaching tool" you can print blank practice plan sheets, field diagrams, and "playmaker diagrams". Very useful.

Footy for Kids.
This is a UK site. This site promotes its products for sale. But free "samples" are very good. For example, if you click "downloads", you can print many soccer manuals free. One of them is the "English FA level-2 coaching drills and key factors". It is about 30 pages long.

Goalies.
This site is dedicated to goal keeping. It explains many aspects of goal keeping including the laws of the game about goal keeping. Very useful.
