Canadian Sport for Life

The Canadian Sports Centres has put out a booklet called Canadian Sport for Life (CS4L) which tries to
analyze and develop proposals to encourage sports for life as a way of healthy living at all ages and
for all abilities. This booklet encourages building sport programs around principles that respect the
development needs of all children.
Sports are classified as either early or late specialization sports. The five basic aspects that you want
developed are stamina, strength, speed, skill and suppleness. The five basics of training should take into
account structure, psychology, sustenance, scholing and socio cultural factors. Soccer as a basic developmental
sport fits well in this model.
The following resources are given by the booklet with the hopes of stimulating your thinking.
